Students who enroll gain the ability to understand visual programming and game design concepts while creating their own games using software.
They also learn to solve design problems using logic and experimentation while working as a team, and provide constructive feedback for classmates in order to improve their games.
With every project, students are introduced to a “classic” game that utilizes the topic.
For example, when learning Platforming video games, students are given time to play the original Super Mario Bros and Little Big Planet, and think about the elements that separate that type of game from others. Afterwards, students take the best elements of those games and implement them in their own creations.
